what is the literal meaning of akhlaq
- khalqan (creation, origination, formation)
- innate or inborn characteristic and natural disposition of man
- it can be good or bad
what is the technical meaning of akhlaq
an established state of soul which actions proceed easily without the prior need of reflection and deliberation
explain the hadith
- akhlaq depends on the nature of the soul
- if the condition of soul is good it will result in good behaviour
- display good akhlaq, called praiseworthy character
if the the condition of soul is bad, it will result in bad behaviour - display bad akhlaq, called blameworthy character

- highlight Allah as the creator and master of the entire universe
- Allah is the source of the principle of islamic ethic
- the principle derived from the divine revelation so it is everlasting and unchangeable
- Allah posses great attribute, thus islamic akhlaq designated to beautify muslim’s character
explain nubuwwah
- divine morality has been manifested in the moral personalities of all prophets of Allah
- one of the duties of prophets and mesengger was to improve morality
- to achieve it, Allah appointed person who have high moral standard as prophet to become model for their nation to follow
- the moral characteristic of prophet S.A.W represent the comprehensive divine morality, forming perfect human model for imitation

- principle of akhlaq derived from divine sources, it is permanent and unchangeable
- stability is the features of quran and sunnah is the one of the sources of islamic teachings
- islam has it own standards of ethics that are everlasting and unchangeable
- exp of righteous deed in quran: enjoining the right and forbidding evil, being kind to parents and caring to the poor

- akhlaq in islam is inclusive and intergrated. it combines all aspects of human life
- it is also comprehensive and encompassing system
- it encompasses the relationship of an invidual toward his own self, his fellow human being and universe

a. tazkiyah al- nafs(purification of soul): purify it from an inclination towards evil and sins and develop its fitrah towards goodness - these will leads to attaining honour and ihsan
- when soul is purified, man will suceed obey Allah’s command and can received Allah’s unlimited grace
