shoulder range of motion Flashcards
GH flexion
Testing position: supine with elbow extended and forearm in neutral
Stabilization: scapula to prevent posterior tilt, upward rotation and elevation
fulcrum: greater tubercle
Proximal arm: mid axillary line
distal arm: lateral epicondyle
AAOS: 0-180
GH extension
Testing position:
- prone with face away from shoulder thats tested; elbow slightly flexed; palm facing body
Stabilization:
- scapula to prevent elevation and anterior tilt
Fulcrum: greater tubercle
proximal arm: midaxillary line
distal arm: lateral epicondyle
AAOS: 0-60
GH abduction
Testing position: supine with shoulder in ER; elbow extended
Stabilization: scapula to prevent upward rotation and elevation
Fulcrum: anterior acromian
proximal arm: parallel to sternum
distal arm: medial epicondyle
AAOS: 0-180
GH medial rotation
Testing position: supine; shoulder 90 abducted and elbow flexed to 90*; palm full supinated
Stabilization: scapula to prevent anterior tilt or protraction
Fulcrum: olecranon process
proximal arm: perpendicular/paralle to floor
distal arm: ulnar styloid process
AAOS: 0-70
GH lateral rotation
Testing position: supine; shoulder 90 abducted and elbow flexed to 90*; palm full supinated
Stabilization: scapula to prevent posterior tilt/retraction
Fulcrum: olecranon
proximal arm: perpendicular/parallel to floor
distal arm: ulnar styloid process
AAOS: 0-90
GH horizontal Abduction
Testing position: supine with shoulder in 90* abduction elbow extended
Stabilization: superior aspect of shoulder
Fulcrum: superior acromian
proximal arm: parallel to the floor
distal arm: lateral epicondyle
AAOS:
GH horizontal Adduction
testing position: supine with shoulder in 90* of abduction and elbow extended
Stabilization: superior aspect of shoulder
Fulcrum: acromian (superior)
proximal arm: parallel to the floor
distal arm: lateral epicondyle
