Anatomical/Functional leg length
Uneven sacral base
Innominate rotation
Vertebral sidebending/rotation
Anatomic: congenital
Functional: myofascial (somatic dysfunction)
Sacral base
Lowers side of sacral base on side of short leg
Caudal vertebrae will sidebend away and rotate towards side of short leg
Lower side of sacral base opposite of spinal sidebending
Treatment
Fragile patient: 1/16 every 2 weeks
Typical: ⅛ every 2 weeks
If recent or sudden leg length loss add full lift
Pelvic side shift
Short leg contra
Hypertonic splash contra
Prominent greater trochanter ipsa
Inc tension IT band ipsa
Psoas
Flexes thigh at hip
Type 2 somatic dysfunction at L1/L2
Pelvic shift to opposite side
Hypertonicity of contra psoas to side of psoas spasm
Sciatic nerve irritation
Sacrum: usually to side of lumbar sidebending (oblique axis)
+ Thomas test
Type 1 muscles
