Cobb angle > 10
Extreme ends of curves, horizontal lines
5-15: mild
20-45: moderate
>50: severe
(>50 compromise resp, >75 compromise cardiovascular)
Curve named for convex side
Sidebent left = right convexity = dextroscoliosis
Left convexity = levoscoliosis

Classification

A

Structural: fixed, will not correct with sidebending to opposite side
Functional: flexible, partial/complete fix with sidebending in opposite direction

Causes

A

Idiopathic: uneven cranial or sacral base
Congenital: most are progressive
Acquired: psoas syndrome, short leg syndrome

A

Child: asx
Adult: backaches, chest pain, neck aches, arthritis, ha, organ dysfunction sx

Asymmetric hump is scoliosis

Side of asymmetric hump is convex side
