Cranial Flashcards
Sacral rocking
Occurs about sup transverse axis
Primary respiratory mechanism
10-14 cycles/min (healthy person)
Sphenobasilar Synchondrosis
Junction between sphenoid and basi-occiput
Reference point which dx motion patterns
Flexion
SBS rises Sacral base moves post Paired bones externally rotate Fingers move caudad and fingers separate Extension is opposite
Axis for flex/ext
Occiput around transverse axis sup to foramen magnum
Sphenoid around transverse axis ant to floor of sella turcica
Torsion
Sphenoid and occiput rotate in opposite directions around an AP axis
Named for sup greater wing of sphenoid
Right torsion during flexion
Right index moves sup
Right pinky moves inf
Sidebending
3 axes
Same direction around AP axis
Occiput rotates around vertical axis (through foramen magnum)
Sphenoid rotates around vertical axis through body of sphenoid
Rotate in opposite directions
Named for convex side
Right sidebending
Left fingers move cephalad and together
Right fingers move down and out
