Religion as an agent of socialization
religion is a secondary agent meaning individuals have to learn further into the behaviour.
Religion teaches values, norms, and beliefs that shape behaviour and identity
jesus camp taught kids obedience to god, moral lessons, prayer, worship. these rituals create a strong group identity bringing these kids together. the camp enforces behavioural expectations such as rejecting worldly acts.

Case: Kitty genvose
Concept: ingroups and out groups
Bystanders could’ve seen kitty as an out group member not viewing her as someone close to them. this could’ve contributed to why they didn’t intervene as they felt less responsibility for her well being.
Is the IAT a good test?
IAT test is to measure people’s implicit biases(unconscious attitudes towards groups)
The IAT test is good because i helps uncover implicit biases people may not be aware of or are unwilling to acknowledge. Helps promote conversations about biases, discrimination and how we can work against it
