shock Flashcards
Distributive shock
- severe peripheral vasodialtion
- neurogenic, septic, anaphlactic shock are all types of distributive shock
Cardiogenic shock
failure of the heart as a pump
-MI,atrial and ventricular arythmias, valve or ventricle septal rupture
signs of cariogenic shock
hypotension,arrythmias,cold clammy skin, pulmonary edema
hypovelmic shock
lack of intravascular volume
-hemmoraghe and non hemmoragic fluid loss
signs of hypovelmic shock
hypotension, narrow pulse pressure, tachycardia, cool extremities, deep tachypnea
obstructive shock
shock from cardiac pump failure not related directly to the heart pr
-PE, Tension pneumothorax
Neurogenic shock
shock due to injury of the spinal cord,
signs of neurogenic shock
hypotension, bradycardia, warm, dry skin, tachypnea, priprism
signs of distributive shock
widened pulse pressure, hypotension, tachycardia, pale cool skin, shortness of brreath
classes of hemmoraging
1: 15%
2: 15-20%
3: 30-40%
4: 40%
Septic shock
shock due to infection, sepsis has progressed to circulatory, cellular, and metabolic abnormalities
signs of septic shock
high fever, hypotension, cool clammy skin, tachycardia, shortness of breath
compensated shock
elevated heart rate, systolic over 90, normal mental status
decompensated shock
hypotension, confusion, sweating, chills, vision changes
altered mental status is the best indicator of what
organ dysfunction
