15 cardiac Flashcards
Acute coronary syndrome
cause by myocardial ischemia or poor blood supply,
Angina Pectoris
lack of oxygen to the heart muscle
Cause of Angina Pectoris
Atherosclerosis, or buildup of plaque in a blood vessel, doesnt last longer than 10 mins
Acute myocardial infarct
death to an area of the myocardial muscle due to the lack of oxygenated blood to the coronary arteries
CHF
occurs when the ventricles are unable to keep up with the flow of the blood coming to them
Signs of CHF
pedal edema,JVD,Pulmonary edema,orthopnea
Right ventricle failure
when blood backs up into the venous system that feeds the right heart
left ventricle failure
blood backs up into the lungs
what side heart failure does pulmonary edema indicate
left side
left side heart failure leads to what
right side heart failure
what side heart failure does JVD indicate
right side
Hypertesion
systolic over 140, diastolic over 90
hypertensive crisis
systolic over 160 ,diastolic over 94,headache,tinnitus
AICD
automated external defibulator placed under the skin and connected directly to the heart
pacemaker
regulates a persons cardiac rhythm by serving as an artificial source of electrical impulses to stimulate the heart
