Shiseido - Digital Media Coordinator Flashcards
Tell me about yourself
I graduated in March from the U of WA, business major, marketing and information systems
I can give you an overview of my general experience so far
When I was in school:
I was on the exec team for my school’s undergrad women in business club
Was also part of a student consulting group
I’ve also done one a few internships -
One at an eyewear company (Marchon)
One last summer at Revlon (the makeup brand)
marketing and brand management focused
Since I’ve graduated, I’ve been searching for full-time roles
Which is what led me here
Strengths
Curiosity and willingness to learn
I’ve found that this has been useful, especially in past internship experiences
I think being curious and asking questions helped me fully understand the business environment
It allowed me to learn new tools and grow my skills
Goal-driven
This really helped me as I was moving through college
I was always motivated to seek out opportunities to grow/advance, for example, regarding leadership positions in school organizations or finding internships
I tried to push myself to seek out new experiences and get out of my comfort zone
Collaboration
I really enjoy getting to work in a team and being able to create a strong group environment
In team/group project settings in the past, I tried to encourage everyone to share their perspectives and bounce ideas off each other
As well as figuring out how we could divide up tasks to leverage everyone’s strengths to work better as a group
Weakness
Too absorbed:
Sometimes when I’m working on a project or a task, I can get too absorbed or consumed by it
This isn’t great, because I’ve realized I can think better and make better decisions when I have a clear head
To fix this, I’ve been trying to work on setting the task down and working on something else for a while to give myself some breathing room from it, and then coming back later with a different perspective
Why Shiseido? Why this role?
I know Shiseido is a leader in the industry, so there’s that aspect
I also think it’s interesting that Shiseido is such a global company, and they have this portfolio of brands that’s able to reach all these different areas of the market
(I know the company has taken action around sustainability and diversity initiatives as well, and those aspects resonated with me)
With Cle de Peau specifically, I know the company has this science-driven, innovative approach which I was really intrigued by
(really admire the quality and design of the products as well)
I know luxury skincare has really come to the forefront in recent years as well, so I think it’s an exciting space to be in
For this role, when I was looking at the job description is seemed like there was a lot of variety involved — like working on a lot of diverse tasks and getting to interact with a lot of different teams — which was appealing to me
Plus the opportunity to really be involved in shaping the digital media strategy and activations from beginning to end
Overall, it seemed like a very exciting opportunity
Why beauty/skincare?
I think what makes the beauty industry interesting is that it’s so dynamic
People who buy beauty products really care about them, and are very invested - that level of engagement makes it interesting
(luxury specifically: blend of science and art that goes into it, quality, level of consumer engagement)
I think in recent years especially, skincare has really stepped into the forefront of the beauty world, so the opportunity to be involved in that is very interesting
What are your career goals?
Short term:
Learning environment and exposure to different projects
Gain hands-on experience in creating marketing activations and campaigns and see that process from start to finish
In my past internship, I got some practice in working with high-level market and customer data and seeing how it was used to make decisions, so I’d love to explore that area more as well
Long term:
I’d hope to develop a strong foundation in marketing and found my niche in the field
Be able to take on higher-level tasks, leadership roles
Contribute to strategic direction and decision-making a bit more
I’d like to still be in an environment that allows for growth opportunities and learning
Why are you a good fit for this role?
In my past internship experiences in beauty, I gained experience in market analysis and consumer trend research to help support activations/campaigns which I know would be relevant to this role
Via my on-campus leadership experiences, I learned soft skills like project management and communication which I know would apply to this position as well
Lastly, I’m eager to learn more about the industry, the business, and I’m adaptable to learning new tools or ways of working, which I believe would help me contribute effectively.
Summary of past internship experiences
Past internships were mainly brand management focused
Revlon, last summer
they were working on a campaign for the following year, which I did research for

Early stage campaign planning
Additional: recap deck for a sponsored event, packaging product samples,
Eyewear company
Worked on brand briefs which summarized top styles, competitor bestsellers, market trends for each brand
Was used for product development
Extra tasks: updating SKU spreadsheets with updated pricing info, creating slides for presentations to the accounts team, filing product order forms for shipments
