What are the goals of the Army Sexual Assault Prevention and Assault Program?
Create a climate that minimizes sexual assault incidents. Which impact army personnel, Army Civilians, and families, and if an incident does occur,victims are treated according to Army policy

Establish sexual awareness and prevention training programs to educate soldiers

Define Sexual Assault
A crime that includes intentional unwanted sexual contact, by the use of force, physical threat, or the abuse of authority. or when the victim does not or cannot consent.
Sexual Assault includes what acts?
Rape
Non consensual Sodomy
Indecent assault (un wanted sexual contact, or fondling)
Attempts to commit these acts
More than half the sexual assault offenses include what?
Alcohol
Prevention of Sexual Harrasment is whose responsibility?

Victim: One who has been sexually assaulted.
Alleged Perpetrator: One who has been accused of committing the crime
Perpetrator: The offender who has comitted the crime.
What is the Army’s Policy on Sexual Assault?
Sexual Assault is a criminal offense that has no place in the Army. It degrades mission readiness by devestating the Army’s ability to work as a team. Every soldier who is aware of sexual assault should immeiately (within 24 hours) report the incident Sexual Assault violates the Army Values and is punishable under federal and civil laws, and the UCMJ
The Army will use training, education, and awareness to minimize sexual assault. to promote the sensitive handling of victims of sexual assault. To hold those who hold sexual assault offenses accountable, to provide confidential avenues of reporting, and to reinforce the army values.
The Army will treat all victims of sexual assault with diginity, fairness and respect. The Army will take every reported sexual assault incident seriously by following the proper guidelines. The information and circumstances of the allegations will be disclosed on a need to know basis only.
This policy applies both on and off post and both during non duty and duty hours

AR 27-10 Outlines the rights of crime victims, what are they?
The right to be treated with fairness, dignity, and a respect for privacy.
The Right to be protected from the accused offender.
The right to be notified of court proceedings
The right to be present to all public court proceedings related to the assault unless the court determines that testimony by the victim would be materially effected if the victim heard other testimony at the trial or for other good cause
The right to talk to an attorney for the government in the case
The right to seek restitution in the case if approrpriate
The right to information regarding conviction, sentencing, imprisonment and release of the offender from custody

What must commanders do to implement and support the SHARP program?
Ensure all assigned personel to their command are familiar with the Army policy on sexual harrassment
Publish and post written command policy statements for the prevention of sexual harrassment
Continually assess and be aware of the climate of command regarding sexual harrasment. Identify problems or potential problems. Take prompt decisive action to investigate all claims of sexual assault or horrassment. Resolve the problem at the lowest level or take the proper disciplinary or administrative action Do not allow soldiers to be retaliated against for filing complaints. Continually monitor the unit and asses sexual harrassment prevention policies and programs at all levels within the area of responsibility. Ensure all leaders understand they witness or or otherwise know of incidents of sexual harrassment, they are to report it immediately, and if they do not they themselves are engaging in sexual harrassment.
