- lack of opportunities at home (job, education healthcare)

- friends and family who already moved there and encouraged them to move there too

what is the definition of an asylum seeker?
a person who flees their home nation and is claiming to be a refugee but is waiting for refugee status to be granted
what is the definition of a refugee?
a person who has moved outside of their country out of fear of death or persecution and has been granted the legal right to stay in the destination country
what is the definition of an IDP (internally displaced person)?
a person who flees their home but remains in the same country
what is the definition of an illegal immigrant?
an asylum seeker isn’t granted refugee status and is required to back to their home country but doesn’t
why has globalisation created a new source and destination countries for global migrants?
EDCS have jobs going in developing regions which attract people from LIDCs to work in these sectors
Many people in EDCs are gaining better qualifications and are therefore attracted to the AC because of the better and pay and quality of life
