requires high index of clinical suspicion because tests are often negative
• bacterial culture of blood, joint fluid, and skin lesions
• joint fluid cell count and Gram stain
GONOCOCCEMIA Management
notify Public Health authorities
• screen for other STIs
• cefixime 400 mg PO (drug of choice) or ceftriaxone 1 g IM
