Sequence Activities Flashcards
Planning
What is Sequence Activities process?
Identifying and documenting the relationships among the project activities.
What is Precedence Diagramming Method (PDM)?
A technique used in Critical Path Methodology (CPM) to graphically display a network diagram showing activity dependencies by one or more logical relationships to show the sequence in which the activities are to be performed. (Also know as Acitvity-On-Node - AON)
What are the 4 PDM’s relationships?
1) Finish-to-Start, 2) Finish-to-Finish, 3) Start-to-Start, 4) Start-to-Finish; Finish-to-Start is the most commonly used.
What is Dependency Determination?
A technique used to identify the type of dependency used to create logical relationships between the predecessor and successor activities.
What are the 4 types of Dependency Determination?
1) Mandatory (Hard Logic), 2) Discretionary (Soft Logic or Preferred), 3) External, 4) Internal
What is Mandatory Dependency?
Dependencies that are contractually or physical limitations.
What is Discretionary Dependency?
Based on best practices where a specific sequence is desired, even though there may be other acceptable sequences.
What is External Dependency?
Dependencies outside the project team’s control.
What is Internal Dependency?
Dependencies within the project team’s control.
What is leads and lag?
Lead is a technique where the amount of time can be advanced (head start on 2nd activity) and lag is a technique where the amount of time can be delayed.
What is a Project Schedule Network Diagram?
An output and is the visual representation of the project schedule.
