Develop Schedule Flashcards
Planning
What is the purpose of Develop Schedule?
The process of analyzing activity sequences, durations, resource requirements, and schedule constraints to create the project schedule module.
What is a Total Float (Slack)?
The amount of time that an schedule activity can be delayed without delaying the project completion date. Backward Pass. Negative float indicates activity behind on schedule.
What is a Project Float?
The amount of time the project can be delayed, without impacting the external imposed project deadline set by the customer or management.
What are Project Staff Assignments?
Specifies which resources are assigned to activities.
What is Schedule Network Analysis?
It examines the logical relationships of predecessors and successors that will be used to calculate the schedule.
What is Resource Optimization Techniques?
Used to adjust schedule model due to demand and supply of resources; 1) Resource Leveling 2) Resource Smoothing
What is Resource Leveling?
Adjusting activity start/finish dates when resources have been over-allocated or certain resources are scarce, which often allows the schedule activities to slip beyond their float time.
What is Resource Smoothing?
Technique that adjusts the activities of a schedule model such that the requirements for resources on the project do not exceed certain redefined resource limits. Does not allow schedule to slip beyond float time.
What is Monte Carlo analysis?
Modeling technique, which evaluates many different scenarios using statistical techniques in order to predict their effect on project objectives.
What is the difference between Leads and Lags?
Lead is starting an activity prior to completing its predecessor activity and lag is adding a period of time between the start of an activity and the completion of its predecessor activity.
What is Critical Path Method?
Technique used to calculate the start and finish times of activities by using a forward and backward pass analysis through the schedule network.
What is Critical Chain Method?
Technique utilizing schedule buffers to account for limited resources and project uncertainties.
What is a Feeding Buffer?
Placed at each point where a chain of dependent activities that are not on the critical chain feeds into the critical chain.
What is What-If Scenario Analysis?
The process of evaluating scenarios in order to predict their effect on a project objectives.
What the purpose of Schedule Compression and the forms of Schedule Compressions?
Techniques used to shorten the schedule duration without reducing the project scope, in order to meet schedule constraints, imposed dates, or other schedule objectives. 1) Crashing 2) Fast Tracking.
