Joint replacement
Invasive joint procedures (e.g. steroid injections, arthroscopy)
IV drug use
Diabetes mellitus
Immunosuppression

Joint aspiration - culture, cytology
Blood culture, CRP, ESR

mANAGEMENT septic arthritis

A

Prosthetic -> urgent osteo referral
Native -> IV antibiotics 2 weeks
Fluclox 2g before culture
Ceftriaxone if sus gonorrhea
Then PO if improving after 2 weeks
