Bon/Bonne v Bien

A

USE “Bon”

C’est bon - FOOD

Bon + noun - un bon hôtel, une bonne réunion

Comment était la réunion ?

C’était une bonne réunion / C’était bien

il parle bien le français

c’est un bon film

C’est = state verbs

c’est bon : talking about food

c’est bien : talking about anything else (the experience)

C’était de bonnes vacances = C’était bien

C’était un bon gâteau = C’était bon

Comment s’est passé le week-end ? Très bien.

Another way of looking at it / understanding:

Bon and bien are both very common French words.

Bon is an adjective that means “good” and is used to describe things or people.

Bien is an adverb that means “well” and is used to describe actions or states of being.

Same here with vite & rapide:

Ils marchent vite / tu parles vite / tu marches vite

le service est rapide (noun because it has a le/la before it) / la voiture est rapide
