Simple sentence
A
- A sentence that is made up of just one independent clause. E.g. My partner loves to hike.

Compound sentences
A
A sentence that has at least two independent clauses joined by a comma, semicolon or conjunction. E.g. This house is too expensive, and that house is too small.

Complex sentences
A
- A sentence with one independent clause and at least one dependent clause. E.g. Since he arrived early, he had time to relax.

Compound-complex sentences
A
- A sentence that is comprised of at least two independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses.
- E.g. Though Mitchell prefers watching romantic films, he rented the latest spy thriller, and he enjoyed it very much.
