sensory pathways 1 Flashcards
Where are the cell bodies of primary neurons located?
in dorsal root ganglions
Where are the secondary cell bodies of spinothalamic pathway neurons located?
ipsilateral gray matter in dorsal grey horn,
where are the tertiary cell bodies of spinothalamic pathway neurons located?
posterior ventral nucleus of thalamus
describe the path of a secondary spinothalamic pathway neuron?
neuron crosses in ventral white commisure and ascends in contralateral spinothalamic tract
Where are the cell bodies of secondary dorsal column pathway neurons located?
gracile/ cuneate nuclei
Where do primary dorsal column pathway neurons ascend?
ipsilateral gracile/ cuneate (above T6) fasicle
Where do secondary dorsal column pathway neurons ascend?
cross midline in internal arcuate fibres, ascend in contralateral medial lemniscus
