Sensation and perception Flashcards
What is transduction?
Its the translation of signals from the environment (light, sound, smell…) into our electric signal.
What is absolute threshold?
Its the minimum level of a stimulus.
Whats the signal detection theory?
Its when we are hyperaware and we listen to sounds that are not actually there or to sounds that has always been there put we never noticed it.
What is the sensory adaptation?
When we get used to a specific stimuli that we don’t even notice it anymore.
What is proximal stimulation?
Its what happens right after the transduction. Right after it hits our retail.
What is viewer centered?
Its when you see and object and put it in context to you.
What is object centered?
Its when you concentrate on the object and look at all the details.
What is landmark centered?
When we see an object and concentrate on whats around it.
