May tick any box without reading question properly can’t be bothered
Bias questionnaire only literate people with time would fill them in

Structured interviews can easily be repeated reliable and standardised
Detailed info can be gained more insight to a behaviour

Interviewer bias or social desirability participants may respond in a way the interviewer wants them to

Data can be collected from a large number of people quickly and cheaply
People more willing to give away personal info on sheet rather than face to face

Questionnaire that measures a psychological variable
Psycho tests strengths
Provides lot of quantitative data is to analyse and compare
Data collected from a large number of people, quickly and cheap easy to give out
Psycho tests weaknesses
Designer bias because the designer interprets the data and the could interpret it differently to another person
Labelling somebody as a particular person could encourage them to behave in that way and cause harm (ethics)
Rating scale/ closed questions strengths & weaknesses
Quantitative numerical data collected easy to analyse and compare
Pps choices limited so indepth info gathered
Subjective interpretation of numbers someone’s 2 sad is someone’s else 4
Open questions strengths and weaknesses
In depth qualitative data can give reasons for their answer and explain them selves
Researchers may interpret the answers I’m the wrong way
Harder to compare results and analyse
