strenghts of questionnaires
- quick and cheap
- large sample- many given out and completed at same time
- replicate
- open + closed
- quant + qual
- complex issues
limitations of questionnaires
- misunderstanding = unvalid
- bias sample- only suitable for those willing to read/write
- low response rate
- superficial issues
- misleading
- DC
- results difficult to analyse
how to improve reliability?
- questions replaced and rewritten that are unclear so less misunderstandings
- replace open questions with closed, fixed ones so less complex
