What are likert scales?
Participants signify their agreement or feelings towards a topic using a scale of five points, ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree.
What is a rating scale?
Participants respond in such a way that represents how strongly they feel about a topic.
What are fixed choice options?
Participants are given a list of possible answers and are asked to select those that apply to then.
How should one-on-one interviews be conducted?
Quiet room and away from people, so that the interviewee is more likely to open up to the interviewer.
What is jargon?
Terms that are only familiar to those within a specialised area.
How can emotive language impact the study?
Words that are aggressive and rude should be placed with neutral terms. Leading questions guides participant to a specific answer or assumes that the participant has done something like that before.
What are double-barrelled questions?
Two questions where one issue is being addressed in one half of the questions and not the other.
What is interviewer bias?
Researchers may unconsciously choose certain questions that might guide a participant to assist their research.
