correlations Flashcards

1
Q

What are correlations?

A

Represent the strength and direction of an association between two or more co variables. They are plotted in a scatter gram, with one co variable represented on each axis.

Q

What is a strength of using correlations?

A

Quick to carry out and there is no need for a controlled environment.
No variables need to be controlled.
Data is secondary, which means they are less time-consuming than experiments.

Q

What is a limitation of using correlations?

A

Tell us how and no why the correlation exists - limited.
Correlations can be misinterpreted for true facts, when that may not always be the case.
