why do you want this job
The people that we serve, the consumers and their families deserve the best care that we can deliver. through the experience I have had as a manager and in project roles I have developed knowledge and skills that I need to deploy to effect change in public mental health services. I come from the history of mental health that we need to overcome and I am a conduit into the future. I have hope that public mental health services will be able to move past the historical cultures of custodianship to the consumer and person centred culture of recovery.
I have the experience of day to day management of a service and I can deploy those skills effectively however I believe that the ability to lead in a transformative and culture changing way is key to the work that needs to be done to lead our service into the future.
What do strengths and attributes do you bring to this job
Credibility as a clinical leader with over twelve months experience working in the service manager role for which I received good feedback on my performance.
I bring a commitment to the mental health organisation to improve outcomes for our consumers by working toward aligning our service with the Living Well strategic plan through the mechanism of the MHS strategic and operational plan.
I bring a skill set that allows me to connect well with consumers carers clinicians and other stakeholders internal and external to health. Bring a fundamental alignment to the CORE values that permeates my clinical and managerial practice and underpins my leadership and ability to effect change.
In my experience as service manager at hunter valleyI was able to engage throughout all levels of the mental health organisation bringing an open and respectful style of leadership that was appreciated by others and helped build trust and credibility that formed the basis of being able to lead.
A comprehensive understanding of the directions of the organisation that I have developed over the last two and a half years in both the service manager and project roles I have been fortunate enough to work in. I have a synthesised understanding of how multiple strands of change, excellence, activity based management, demand management and the community model of care are interwoven and lead to a place of managing our resources effectively while at the same time bringing our clinical services into line with current mental health practice
