Q

How do the CORE values support contemporary MH practice

A

The core values speak to a way to behave with all people that we interact with as an employee of health services.

The values and ways of working apply to working with consumers, their families carers and services as well as with each other as individuals and other departments and services.

Respect is fundamental. If we respect the persons own experience and their choices for themselves then we move to a position of walking beside another person during their recovery rather than trying to lead or direct

Working collaboratively allows the voice of all stakeholders to be valued and reduces power imbalances between service providers and consumers

Being open and transparent allows

The application of all four values in practice reduces stigmatisation of individuals with mental illness and promotes a positive recovery oriented
