When to stop antiepileptics in children
After 2 yrs of seizure free
Definition of acute repetitive seizures
Epilepsy or acute symptomatic seizures with preserved consciousness
between seizures
• Proposed def. : >3 seizures within 24 hours for patients whose
habitual seizure frequency is < 3 seizures per day
Tx of status epilepticus
5-20 mins: benzodiazepines( iv midazolam)
20-40 mins: iv phenytoin
40-60 min: 2nd line or thiopental
Tx of Refractory status epilepticus (>120 mins)
General anasthesia : ketamine
A patient with epilepsy wants to get his license back to drive, when is he allowed to get it back?
Must remain seizure free for a year before regaining driving license
