Defintion of Deadly Force
A force which a person knows or should know that if used would create a substantial risk of causing death or serious bodily harm and should only be used as a last resort
FPCON Normal
A general global threat of possible terrorist activity
FPCON Alpha
An increased general threat of possible terrorist activity
FPCON Bravo
An increased or more predictable threat of terrorist activity exists
FPCON Charlie
Incident occurs or intelligence is received indicating some form of terrorist action is likely
FPCON Delta
Applies in the immediate area where a terrorist attack has occurred

Offensive measures taken to prevent, deter, and respond to terrorism
What are the 3 Vessel Protective Zones
- Assessment zone- Security forces detect and idenity contacts within 500 yards
- Warning zone- Security forces intially interact wwith contacts to determine hostile intent and to provide a physical presence within 300 yards
- Threat zone- All personnel, vehicles and vessels must be classified as either a threat or non-threat before entering this zone within 100 yards
Naval Vessel Protective Zone (NVPZ)
Used to protect USN Vessels at the following.
500 yards- All vessels operate at minimum speed for safe course near USN Vessel
100 yards- Permission is required to pass within 100 yards by contacting official patrol using VHF channel 16 and follow their directions
Violations- Considered a felony and punishable by up to 6 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines

- Separatist- Separate from existing entities through independence, political values, religious freedom, domination
- Ethnocentric- Promite the attitude that a particular group is superior
- Nationalistic- Aim to create a new nation or to split a away part of an existing state

What are the causes of Security Alerts
Swimmer attack, Bomb threat, IED, Hostage onboard, Shooter onboard, Unauthorized personnel, Suspicious package
Duties of the Primary Response Force
Setting primary and secondary boundaries when there is an emergency onboard or security alert
Duties of the Secondary Response Force
Responsible for the tactical entering of a space on the ship when there is a security alert

What is ATO

Antiterrorism Tactical Watch Officer. Has weapons authority. Reports to the CDO inport. Stands watch underway during GQ, Strait Transit, Half Bored, Ful Bored
What is CDO
Command Duty Officer. Acts as the the CO’s representative and carries out the units inport routine while ensuring a functional ATFP watch team protects the command and executes the AT mission through the ATTWO
What is the COG
Chief of The Guard. Senior enlisted member who supervises all watchstanders
What is the Contact Sentry
ECP’s 1st layer of defense. Makes initial contact with individuals seeking entry onto an installation or pier
What is the Cover Sentry
ECP’s 2nd layer of defense. Responsible for all personnel and weapons at an ECP
What is the Inspection Team
Vehicle inpsectors based on the FPCON
What is Waterborne Patrols
Deter, detect and defen against waterborne attacks from boats, pier-side or on the ship
What is ATTT and their responsibility
Antiterrorism Training Team. Responsible to train ships security force to respond to alerts and incidents
