Section X – Flight Instruments, Displays Flashcards
At what airspeed will the Mach/Airspeed indicator (CFD) begin to display current indicated airspeed? At what speed will it display Mach?
a. 30 knots / Mach .40
During climb, at what altitude will the Altimeter ALT light illuminate?
a. It will illuminate 900 feet prior to the selected altitude and will extinguish 300 feet prior.
With respect to the standby instruments (CFD), what is the power source for the Standby Attitude Director Indicator (Standby ADI) in the event of a dual generator failure?
a. In the event that all power is lost, the standby ADI will be supplied with electrical power from the standby DC bus. ILS information is provided from the C- ILS receiver.
With respect to the standby instruments (CFD), from which source does the Standby Airspeed Indicator receive information?
It is connected directly to the L AUX PITOT and alternate static ports.
What information is provided by the Integrated Standby Flight Display?
The ISFD displays attitude, airspeed, altitude, ILS (center ILS receiver), and magnetic heading information (from the left IRS only). It is connected directly to the L AUX PITOT and the alternate static sources. Attitude information is provided by internal inertial sensor
With respect to the Instrument Source Panel what is accomplished when selecting the Captain’s Electronic Flight Instrument (EFI) Switch from Normal to Alternate?
a. The captain’s displays will now use the center symbol generator, center ILS receiver, and center radio altimeter.
What is the primary purpose of the Inertial Reference System (IRS) Switch on the Instrument Source Panel? What is accomplished by switching from normal to alternate mode on the captain’s side?
(ADI,HSI,VSI,RDMI)
It selects the IRS to be used as the source of information for the left and center symbol generators, Captain’s VSI, and the first officer’s RDMI.
b. In the alternate position, the center IRS is the source for the aforementioned items. (Normal position the LEFT IRS is used).
What is the primary purpose of the Air Data Switch on the Instrument Source Panel?
Selects the air data computer used as the source of information for the Mach/airspeed indicator, primary altimeter, and vertical speed indicator (via the selected IRS).
The Speed Trend Vector (green arrow) on the airspeed indicator indicates the predicted airspeed in _________ seconds based on current acceleration or deceleration? (ADV)
a. 10 seconds
When does the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) turn on?
a. The recorder automatically turns on when either engine is operating or the
airplane is in flight.
How many Air Data Computer’s are installed?
a. Two. L + R (powers left and right instruments respectively).
Where can a Total Air Temperature (TAT) information be found while in flight?
a. TAT appears on the primary EICAS display above the engine indications and is supplied by a thrust management or air data computer.
What are some examples of flight guidance lost that would require using the alternate switches ?
FMC BASIC NAVIGATION

Selected speed bug is how many knots in height ?
The bug is 10 knots in height
VNAV path deviation scale is how many feet ?
400 up and 400 down from the center of deviation scale.
