What is the definition of a sedentary lifestyle?
A lifestyle involving little, irregular or no physical activity
What are consequences of a sedentary lifestyle?
- Obesity
- Decreased cardiovascular fitness
- increased blood pressure (hypertension)
- increased risk of cardiovascular disease including diabetes and strokes
- poor sleep patterns
- poor self esteem
- increased lethargy (a state of being drowsy and unenergetic)
- high cholesterol (fat in the blood)
What is the definition of Health?
A state of complete physical, mental and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease of infirmity
How may obesity affect performance in physical activity and sport?
