Section 9: Yard Limits Flashcards
Rail traffic movements on running lines within yard limits must be authorised by
NCOs at attended locations and remotely controlled locations or Train controllers for unattended locations
If unsignalled movements are authorised in tunnels, the locomotive driver..
must not exceed 10km/h, must stop and report arrival at each platform and must get the NCOs permission to proceed
Signals at stop must be passed only in accordance with rule
608 - passing signals at stop
Shunting movements must be mad in accordance with rule
420 - shunting and marshalling and 424 - propelling trains
In order or priority, a yawn limit is determined by
yard limit signs, shunt limit signs or specified signals
In Train Order territory, yard limits are determined by
yard limit signs
In RVD territory, unidirectional double line, the yard limits for arrival are determined by
Yarn limit sign, shunt limit sign or first controlled signal
In RVD territory, unidirectional double line, the yard limits for departure are determined by
End yard limit sign, first automatic signal beyond a starting or home/starting signal, starting or home/starting signal
Before authorising an unsignalled movement that opposes other rail traffic, the NCO must make sure that
at least one unoccupied block is maintained between movements until one of the approaching trains is brought to a stand
Before authorising an unsignalled movement beyond a starting or a home/starting signal on a bidirectional line, the NCO must
tell the train controller about the movement, compile a checklist for the unsignalled movement within consolidated yard limits form, tell the Loco driver for the unsignalled movement not to proceed beyong the relevant yard limit
Before authorising an unsignalled movement into or through one or more blocks protected by automatic signals in a consolidated yard, the NCO must
tell the train controller about the movement, compile a checklist for an unsignalled movement within consolidated yard limits form
If there is an affected locally controlled interlocking machine in a consolidated yard the NCO must
tell the Qualified worker in charge about the movement and make sure that the route is set correctly and that no conflicting movements will be authorised
In RVD territory, bidirectional single line, the yard limits for arrival are determined by
Yard limit sign, shunt limit sign, outer home signal, home signal
In RVD territory, bidirectional single line, the yard limits for departure are determined by
End yard limit sign, shunt limit sign, outer home signal for the opposing direction, home signal for the opposing direction
In RVD territory, bidirectional double line, the yard limits for arrival are determined by
Yard limit sign
