What does universe view display? How can you use this view to scroll in the edit window?
The universe view shows an overall timeline of all clips and tracks in a session.
You can navigate this by clicking around different areas of the window to access different parts of the session.
What are the Timeline Selection In/Out points? How can you use them too adjust a selection?
It selects record and playback in and out points.
You can adjust things using selection start, end and length boxes in the transport window or by drag clicking a selection in the timeline ruler.
Describe 2 ways to make an edit selection using the selector tool. How can the selector tool be used to select an entire clip?
Drag clicking an edit selection or tab through a clip or to transient while holding down shift.

How can you make an edit selection using the grabber tool?
By clicking on a clip using that tool. or shift click on multiple.
How can you make a selection across adjacent tracks using the selector tool? How do you extend a selection to a non adjacent track?
Drag vertically or shift click on the track playlist with the selector tool.
What does the Link Track and Edit Selection setting do?
Allows you to click on a track nameplate to inherit the selection from another track.
How does the Tab key affect the cursor position when working in a track? How does this behaviour change when the Tab to Transients button is active in the Edit window?
Goes from clip boundary to clip boundary. With the tab to transients button enabled it provides a similar action only it moves between transients.
How can track height be adjusted for a track? How can all tracks be set to the same height?
Select height from track options area or click on the amplitude section of a track.
Press OPT while doing this to apply to all tracks.
Describe 3 ways to change the order of tracks in Pro Tools?
Drag up or down in the edit window, drag left or right in the mix window or drag the tracks around in the tracks list.
Describe the button in the Edit window that activates Zoom Toggle. What does Zoom Toggle do?
Click to zoom to a stored state - click again to return to pre zoom state.
What is the function of the buttons numbered 1 through 5 beneath the zoom buttons?
The are predefined using zoom resolutions.
What are the 2 main types of memory locations provided in Pro Tools? How many memory locations can you add to a session?
Marker and selection.
999 memory locations.
How can you add a marker to the current cursor location? How do you add markers on the fly during playback?
By pressing the plus button on the marker ruler or shortcut of numpad Enter.
Describe 3 ways to recall a memory location.
By clicking on the point in the ruler.
By clicking on the memory location in the memory location window.
or point + NUM + point on the numpad.
