What is the difference between split stereo and interleaved stereo? Which is/are supported for importing into Pro Tools?
There is no audible difference between the 2 - the difference lays in how the files are stored on your disk. Interleaved combines both L&R sides into a single file where a split mono will have L&R stored as 2 files, one for each side.
Both are supported for importing into Pro Tools.
What is the difference between the Add button in the Import Audio dialog box and the Copy button? Which button will force-copy the files into your sessions audio folder?
Add will add the files to your session but will reference their original location for the audio. Copy also adds files to the session but also creates a copy of the audio files that are stored in the sessions Audio Folder.
OPT will force-copy files to your sessions Audio Folder
What happens when you use the Workspace browser to import audio that is not compatible with your sessions parameters?
What happens when you import audio that does not require conversion?
If files need to be converted they will be converted and copied automatically when to match the session on import.
If they don’t need conversion then the original file will be referenced for location.
What steps are required to conduct a search for an audio file using the Workspace browser?
