what was the 3/5 compromise?

A

The 3/5 compromise stated that, when determining populations of states, all free men would be counted, and 3/5 of all slaves would be counted. The southerners were allowed to count their slaves. However, they had to pay for them as well through their taxes.

A

The petition of right limited the kings power and challenged the divine right theory. it’s rules and demands were:
- demanding that the king can no longer punish someone unless by lawful judgement
-the king could no longer enforce martial law, or military rule, in times of peace.
-the king could not require homeowners to shelter troops without their consent
