What are the 7 principles of forest stewardship?
Ecological integrity, information and understanding, forest mgmt goals and objectives, social foundation, temporal options, spatial strategies, adaptive practice
What is meant by ecological integrity? (principle of forest stewardship)
Refers to the wholeness of ecosystems and capacity to retain that over time in response to change or disturbance. Requires recognition of forest components at all levels.
What is meant by information and understanding (as a principle of forest stewardship)?
Scientific and traditional knowledge/experience provides foundation for ecological understanding, and must be reliable and up to date for mgmt and decision making.

Stewardship ensures appropriate range of spatial scales are used to monitor, assess and plan forest management activities
What is meant by adaptive practice? (As a principle of forest stewardship)
Stewardship requires strategies to minimize and mitigate risk and uncertainty in forest management, meaning innovation based on tried and tested practices or new ones used with created problem solving are essential.
