A
- Removes unwanted moisture and sap
- Prevents rot and decay
- Prevents warping
- Improves stability

What is natural air seasoning
A
- Timber is stacked in open shed to protect it from sun and rain
- Sticks are placed between boards to allow air to circulate between them

What is artificial kiln seasoning
A
- Timber is stacked on trolleys
- Steam is introduced - soaks wood
- After some time, humidity is reduced and steam is drawn out by fans
- Heat is gradually introduced and temperature is raised
- Hot dry air circulates until wood moisture is at required level
