- marked upper airway oedema & bronchospasm, causing stridor or wheezing
- tachycardia (hr >110bbp)
- increased respiratory rate
What are some symptoms of anaphylaxis?
- abdominal pain
- vomiting & diarrhoea
- impending doom sense
- flushing or pallor

- 100% oxygen (15l/min)
- 0.5ml (1:1000) IM adrenaline [repeat after 5 mins if needed]
What are the key signs of life-threatening asthma?
- cyanosis or respiratory rate <8/min
- bradycardia (<50bpm)
- exhaustion, confusion, lack of consciousness

- shaking & trembling
- lack of concentration
- slurring of speech
- headache
- fitting

- 100% Oxygen (15L/min)
- Oral glucose (10-20g) [repeat if necessary after 10/15 mins]
A patient in your dental practise is experiencing hypoglycaemia and has lost consciousness, what drugs do you administer according to SDCEP?
- 100% Oxygen (15L/min)
- Glucagon 1mg IM injection
- 10-20g of oral glucose when pt regains consciousness

Benzodiazepines
