Why does using a screen make it hard to sleep?
Your body produces melatonin in response to darkness and helps u fall and stay asleep. Light from screens reduces melatonin being produced. Also because you’re too involved scrolling.
What evidence suggests a link between screen time and emotional health?
• higher screen time = increased depression symptoms
• kids experiences changes in mood and behaviour: neglect responsibilities, turn to screens to deal with stress, and feel anxious when cut off from devices.
How does too much screen time affect your brain development?
Cortex undergoes critical development during adolescence and screen time may affect its growth. Those who you use screens more than 7 hours a day had a thinner cortex.
What are some ways teens can reduce screen time?
• use an app to track screen time and set a limit on it
• turn off all screens 30-60 mins before going to bed
• schedule times to do things with your screen turned off
• exercise
• keep a journal for how screen time makes u feel
