Science Topic 5: Cell Vocabulary Flashcards
What is a Prokaryotic Cell?
A cell with no nucleus or membrane bound organells, very small and unicellular.
What is a Eukaryotic Cell?
A cell that has a nucleus and membrane bound organells, bigger than prokaryotes and usually more complex.
What is a Archea Bacteria?
Old Bacteria that live in extreme enviorments (hot)
What is EuBacteria?
All other bacteria that arent archea fall in this domain, mostly unicellular.
What is a Plasma Membrane?
a membrane inside the cell wall (cell membrane)
What does the plasma do, and is it permiable?
The plasma membrane is the gate keeper, it chooses what it wants or not due to its phospholipid bilayer.
What is a nucleolus?
Inside nucleus where ribosomes are made.
What is the nuclear membrane?
A tiny membrane thats ouside the nucleus.
What does a lysosome do?
Breaks down food and materials from old cells, made in the golgi.
What does a vacuole do?
Stores Materials, acids, enzymes. Can make up to 90 percent of plant cell volume.
