Science T4 Week 6 Flashcards
1
Q
What does the LOP Model of Memory suggest
A
- it suggest that there are no separate memory store
- instead one storage area where memories are encoded by different levels of processing
- the deeper the level of processing at the time of encoding, the easier the retrieval
2
Q
Structural LOP Model of Memory
A
- the words are learnt by physical features
- LOP –> shallow
- thus, 20% of words are retrieved using structural encoding
3
Q
Phonemic LOP Model of Memory
A
- words are learnt by sound
- LOP –> moderate
- thus, 50% of words are retrieved using phonemic encoding
4
Q
Semantic LOP Model of Memory
A
- words are encoded by their meaning
- allows them to be placed directly into semantic networks
- LOP –> deep
- thus, 80% of words are retrieved after semantic encoding
