Muscle
Strong body tissue that can contract in an orderly way.
Joint
Where two or more bones meet.
Ligaments
The tissue that connects bones to other bones.
Hydrostatic skeleton
A fluid filled internal cavity, surrounded by muscle tissue.
Exoskeleton
A thick, hard outer covering; protects and supports an animal’s body.
Skeletal muscles
The muscles that are attached to bones.
Voluntary Muscles
Muscles that you consciously control.
Cardiac muscles
Muscles found only in the heart.
Involuntary muscles
Muscles you cannot consciously control.
Smooth muscle
Involuntary muscle names for its smooth appearance
What are the three types of joints?
There are 3 types of joint in the human body:
- Ball and socket; for example your hip and shoulder.
- Hinge; for example your fingers, knees and elbows.
- Pivot; for example; your neck, and lower arm below the elbow.

Smooth, skeletal, and cardiac
What are roots
These keep the plant in place, act as an anchor, and provide support to allow it to grow.
Stem
This is equivalent to the skeleton of the plant as it holds it upright and gives it support.
What are the two types of stems?
herbaceous or woody. Herbaceous stems are usually soft and green. Woody stems are stiff and typically not green.
