Light source
Supplies the light needed to view the slide.

Objective lens
Have different magnification powers to magnify the object.

Coarse focus knob
Brings an object into focus at low or medium power. Never high.
Fine focus knob
Brings an object into focus at high power. And can also be used for low and medium too.
Base
The bottom of the microscope that supports everything.
Revolving nose piece
Holds the three objective lenses, so you can access the objective lenses from low to high. It rotates.
Monocular head
The part that connects the body tube and eye pierce to the microscope. You see through it to see the object.
Ocular lens
The lens inside the eye piece that magnifies.
Body tube
The long tube like part underneath the eye piece that you look through when using the microscope.
Stage clips
Metal clips to hold the slide in place.
Compound light microscope
The microscope usually used in science classes and medical laboratories.
Resolving power
The ability to distinguish between objects that are very close together.
