bar graph
a graph using parallel bars of varying lengths, as to illustrate comparative costs, exports, birth-rates, etc.
Do a search: bar graph of populations in US states
copy it in your Science notebooks.
classify
arrange (a group of people or things) in classes or categories according to shared qualities or characteristics.
“I asked Mina and Nene to classify all the leaves they found by their size and color.”
constant
occurring continuously over a period of time.
“Mina said that cold weather is a constant in Antartica.”
hypothesis
Making a very good guess about something but not having all the proof needed for it to be a fact.
“Daddy hypothesized that it would snow in Hangzhou because it did last year.” Just because it snowed once last year doesn’t mean it will the next winter.
infer
deduce or conclude (information) from evidence and reasoning.
Nene infered that it was going to rain because she saw dark clouds coming towards us.
line graph
A line graph is a graph that measures change over time by plotting individual data points connected by straight lines. Do a search of: line graph of temperature in Georgia USA. Copy it in your Science notebooks.
model
a three-dimensional representation of a person or thing or of a proposed structure, typically on a smaller scale than the original.
Search up scale model of the Burj Khalifa and you will see what a scale model is.
pie graph
A pie graph is a circle that may be sliced into 100 pieces. Each category or part in the pie graph is given a piece of the pie to represent the percentage that it comprises of the whole.
Complicated way of saying that a pie graph shows you how much of something that something has in it. Do a search for pie graph of pets in the USA, you will see what it means. Copy it in your science notebook.
scientific method
The scientific method is defined as a method of research in which a problem is identified, relevant data is gathered, a hypothesis is formulated from this data, and the hypothesis is empirically tested.
Write the scientific method out as Step 1, Step 2….in your Science notebooks and also on a seperate piece of paper and give it to me.

test (especially a new product or idea) to see if it can work
