diagnostic criteria

A

1 or more of following:

  • Delusions - bizarre delusions or thought control
  • Control hallucinations - thoughts can be heard aloud/3rd person or a running commentary

2 or more of following:

  • Other hallucinations
  • Thought disorder
  • Catatonia
  • Negative symptoms (apathy, poverty of thought and speech, blunting of affect, social isolation, poor self care)
  • Change in personal behaviour - loss of interest, social withdrawal

management

A

bio - atypical first line, BZD for anxiety, procyclidine for EPSE. Depots if needed. Clozapine last resort (agranulocytosis)
Psycho - family therapy, compliance therapy, psychoeducation
Social - social work and housing if needed
