Schiz and Others Flashcards
The incidence of schizoaffective disorder is higher in ___, mainly due to an increased incidence of the depressive type among them
women than in men
Delusional Disorder dx criteria
- One (or more) delusions with a duration of 1 month or longer
- Criterion A for schizophrenia has never been met.
- functioning is not markedly impaired, and behavior is not obviously bizarre or odd.
- If manic or major depressive episodes have occurred, these have been brief relative to the duration of the delusional periods.
- The disturbance is not attributable to the physiological effects of a substance or another medical condition and is not better explained by another mental disorder,
Delusional disorder, jealous type, is probably more common in
Men
Brief Psychotic Disorder dx criteria
Presence of one (or more) of the following symptoms. At least one of these must be (1), (2), or (3): 1. Delusions.
2. Hallucinations.
3. Disorganized speech (e.g., frequent derailment or incoherence).
4. Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior.
Duration of an episode of the disturbance is at least 1 day but less than 1 month,
Not better explained by major depressive or bipolar disorder with psychotic features or another psychotic disorder
In Brief Psychotic Disorder, specify if:
With marked stressor(s) (brief reactive psychosis)
Without marked stressor(s)
With peripartum onset
With catatonia
What is the minimum number of symptoms required for a Schizophreniform Disorder diagnosis?
2 sx
What are the features required for good prognostic features in schizophreniform disorder?
Onset of psychotic symptoms within 4 weeks
Confusion or perplexity
Good premorbid social and occupational functioning
Absence of blunted or flat affect
no psychomotor activity; not actively relating to environment
Stupor
passive induction of a posture held against gravity
Catalepsy
Mimicking another’s speech
Echolalia
mimicking another’s movements
Echopraxia
Examples of presentations that can be specified using the “other specified” designation include the following for Other Specified Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorder
Persistent auditory hallucinations
Delusions with significant overlapping mood episodes
Attenuated psychosis syndrome
Delusional symptoms in the context of relationship with an individual with prominent delusions
This includes persistent delusions with periods of overlapping mood episodes that are present for a substantial portion of the delusional disturbance (such that the criterion stipulating only brief mood disturbance in delusional disorder is not met).
Delusions with significant overlapping mood episodes
Psychotic-like symptoms that are below a threshold for full psychosis (e.g., the symptoms are less severe and more transient, and insight is relatively maintained).
Attenuated psychosis syndrome
In the context of a relationship, the delusional material from the individual with a psychotic disorder provides content for the same delusions held by the other person who may not otherwise have symptoms that meet criteria for a psychotic disorder.
