Q

PASS (PAK ALERT SE 7)

A

–MOTION SENSOR ON BOTTOM OF BACK FRAME
-Control console mounted on right shoulder strap
CONTROL CONSOLE
RED BUTTON–MANUAL ALARM
YELLOW BUTTON-RESET

-BREAK in the control console tube will result in a slight air leak, while this will not greatly reduce member’s breathing air, member must notify officer and leave

vent holes on control console NEVER BE PLUGGED OR SEALED, regardless of air leak

2 lights on back of PASS that flash green in NORMAL and red in ALARM MODE

35
Q

PAK ALERT (PASS) IS AUTOMATICALLY activated when SCBA is pressurized by OPENING CYLINDER VALVE..

A

PASS will remain activated until:
A. cylinder is turned off and RESIDUAL AIR PRESSURE purged from REGULATOR
AND
B. RESET BUTTON is pressed TWICE

36
Q

IF sensor module does not sense motion of the SCBA FOR 20 SECONDS…

A

PAK ALERT WILL SIGNAL PRE ALARM(green light on module turn to RED-once per second and ascending/descending alarm increasing in decibels)

still no motion for next 12 SECONDS..FULL ALARM will sound

PRE ALARM is reset by MOVEMENT(actual movement of BACK FRAME IS REQUIRED) OR PRESSING AND HOLDING RESET BUTTON until 3 quick audible chirps are head and red light on console is replaced by green light

-Shaking control console will NOT reset pre alarm/buckling and tightening was it strap will decrease pre alarm activations

FULL ALARM–loud, almost continuous 3 tone alarm , accompanied by flashing of the red signal light on the control console AND BUDDY LIGHTS (does not mention buddy lights for pre alarm)

  • *FULL ALARM can only be cleared by manually pressing the reset button TWICE (yellow) located on side of control console
  • after full alarm has been silenced , PASS will remain activated with the green light flashing once per second
37
Q

RED MANUAL ALARM BUTTON located in front of console can be pressed if member requires immediate assistance..

A

FULL ALARM WILL BE HEARD(the manual alarm can be activated EVEN WHEN SCBA IS NOT PRESSURIZED)

SCBA NOT PRESSURIZED
-Manual alarm can be silenced by pressing reset button twice –to turn off unit press reset twice again while not in alarm mode

38
Q

PASS cannot be turned off if???

A

cylinder valve is OPEN and/or pressure remains in SCBA

CLOSE CYLINDER VALVE and then vent the residual air from SCBA by opening PURGE VALVE….green flashing light WILL GO OUT AND 15 SECOND BEEP SEQUENCE will be heard from the sensor module as residual air bleeds…after the air has been completely bled off the system , the unit will sound a quick TWO TONE chirp indicating the PASS is deactivated

39
Q

LOW BATTERY..

A

-sensor module will sound chirp every 2 seconds AND the green light on the control module will GO OUT ….PASS WILL CONTINUE TO OPERATE NORMALLY, PRE ALARM AND FULL ALARM…PASS WILL operate period of time longer than longest duration cylinder…however batteries must be changed before using SCBA again

–FAILURE TO REPLACE BATTERIES and continuing will multiple uses of SCBA MAY RESULT in failure of PASS

BATTERY TEST: PASS is OFF (CYLINDER VALVE CLOSED WITH NO FLASHING GREEN LIGHT) PRESS AND HOLD RESET BUTTON ON CONSOLE..GREEN LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE on the console to indicate sufficient battery life …Red light indicates batteries must be replaced

NEVER remove or replace batteries with system pressurized

  • do NOT MIX battery brands, always replace all batteries at the same time
  • do not mark, paint, etch or drill any of the PAK ALERT components or housing in any way
  • requisiiton batteries - RT -2 /MSU

PASS is intrinsically safe
