ADDENDUM 8/PAK TRACKER Flashcards
PAK TRACKER dual purpose..
1 .MONITORING/IDENTIFYING
2. TRACKING CAPABILITY
Max range from SCBA to PAK TRACKER ..
900 FEET LINE OF SIGHT
-NOT Intrinsically safe
PAK TRACKER ..carried by all..
Ladder/rescue/squad
- brought to ICP by FAST UNIT, RESCUE AND SQUAD
- MEMBER OF FAST UNIT will monitor PAK TRACKER
- RESCUE AND SQUAD will leave their oak tracker at command post as backup should fast unit be deployed
UNLIKE EFAS, PAK TRACKER does NOT update with spare masks..
battalions will print out current copy of the spare mask assignment list and keep copy on FAST RADIO BOARD
A MEMBER OF FAST UNIT, OTHER THAN MEMBER MONITORING EFAS SHOULD MONITOR PAK TRACKER
-PAK TRACKER MUST REMAIN IN MONITORING MODE near the FAST UNIT’S ASSIGNED POSITION
When PAK TRACKER receives an alarm signal..
member should IMMEDIATELY NOTIF OFFICER with identify on LCD display (UNIT AND ASSIGNMENT)
- FAST UNIT OFFICER WILL NOTIFY IC OF ACTIVATION and attempt to CONTACT DISTRESSED MEMBER
- NO CONTACT OR EMERGENCY, then NOTIFY IC WITH MAYDAY
-IC will designate member to monitor rescue /squad pak tracker, when fast unit is deployed –until NEW FAST UNIT IS DESIGNATED
at building collapse…
pak tracker can be used from TL BUCKET
-signal will pass throng voids, holes, gaps
TURN ON PACK TRACKER..
ENTER AND SCROLL at same time(signal strength indicator will light up show power up message)
When PAK TRACKER RECEIVED SIGNAL FROM PASS..
- PASS DEVICE been in full alarm for 10 SECONDS (time lag built in , to avoid accidental activations ) , receiver emits 2 tone audible alarm and LCD WILL SHOW UNIT AND MEMBER ASSIGNMENT and relative signal strength
- example: L110-IRO
PAK T receives and stores up to 36 SCBA identities …
LCD can only display 2 at a time
- when 2 PASS ALARMS are activated at same time, both will be displayed
- MORE THAN 2, downward arrows are displayed on LCD, LEFT SCROLL can be used to view and cycle through all SCBA identities that have been transmitted (press and hold scroll for 3 seconds ), when desired identify appears in top row, release scroll button
PAK TRACKER can ONLY LOCK ONTO ONE SCBA AT A TIME…
- -once LOCKED , it will NOT RECEIVE ADDITIONAL PASS ALARM SIGNALS
- UNLOCK PAK T (return to monitoring mod) by pressing and holding scroll for 3 seconds
PAK TRACKER depends heavily on INTERPRETATION OF RELATIVE SIGNAL STRENGTH displayed on tracker ..
signal strength varies, based upon:
- DISTANCE from SCBA TO PAK T
- PATH OF SCBA SIGNAL TAKES TO PAK T
- MATERIALS AFFECTING SIGNAL
- ORIENTATION OF HAND HELD RECEIVER
note: pak tracker is very sensitive in responding to small differences in signal strength
To Lock on signal, press enter button once…
LCD DISPLAY will show pak tracker entered ‘SEARCHING MODE’
-IF 2 or more SCBA PASS alarms are transmitting, press and hold the’ scroll’ button for 3 seconds , and continue to hold it until the activated PASS YOU WANT TO TRACK APPEARS ON TOP ROW OF THE LCD DISPLAY, TO LOCK PRESS enter once
- ENTER IS momentary touch button
- SCROLL must be continuously held down(similar to door control buttons used in elevator operations)
SEARCHING…
- pak tracker held WAIST HEIGHT out in front of operating member
- TOP of hand held receiver pointed toward target(hand held receiver sensor captures the distress signal from the TOP of the unit)
- point PAK TRACKER in direction of STRONGEST RELATIVE SIGNAL –when signal strength rises above the 50 PERCENT LEVEL, ROW OF LEDS WILL BEGIN TO LIGHT STARTING WITH RED AT BOTTOM, ,YELLOW IN MIDDLE , GREEN AT THE TOP
- averages 4 readings per second
- take readings at doors, hallways, openings
- use in SWEEPING MOTION , very slowly in HORIZONTAL DIRECTION AT FIRST, sweep vertically if signal is coming from higher or lower floor l in building
- always pause 3 to 4 SECONDS for a reading…best to pause at distinct directional points (left, front, right)..sweeping to quickly may average a high reading with a low reading resulting in misleading info.
Signal will PASS through …
