- Haemolytic Group A strep - Strep Pyogenes

Spread via respiratory droplets

- Fever
- Sore throat
- Strawberry tongue
- General unwell - malaise, headache, nausea and vomiting
- RASH

Describe the rash in scarlet fever
A
- Sandpaper like rash
- Feels like goosebumps
- Rash is more ovbious in flexures

How does the rash progress on the body?
A
- Appears on the torso first

- Mouth, tongue and pharynx swollen
- Bacterial tonsillitis
- Strawberry tongue

Threat swab is taken but antibiotics should be commenced asap

- Penicillin oral for 10 days
