How is mumps spread?
A
Spread via droplets in the air

3 main clinical features of Mumps
A
- Fever
- Malaise
- Parotitis - swelling of the partid gland

How does parotitis present?
A
- Swelling of the parotid gland
- Earache
- Pain on eating or drinking

Management
A
- Rest

Major complications of mumps
A
- orchitis - uncommon in pre-pubertal males but occurs in around 25-35% of post-pubertal males.
- Typically occurs four or five days after the start of parotitis - hearing loss - usually unilateral and transient
