Investigations to perform in meningitis
- Bloods
- FBC
- U and E
- LFT
- Blood glucose - ABG - for acidosis
- Culture of blood, throat and urine - to find pathogen
Procedures and scans t perform
- Lumbar puncture

Immediate mx of febrile child with purpuric rash
- IM benzylpenicillin
Tx for meningitis in baby < 1 month
IV ceftriaxone/cefotaxamine
Tx for meningitis in > 1 month
- IV ceftriaxone
2. Amoxicillin
What antibiotic should be added to therapy if recent travel abroad?
- Vancomycin
