What is an airworthiness certificate?
Issued by FAA to a/c shown to meet minimum design and manufacturing requirements, and is capable of safe operation.
Do airworthiness certificates expire?
No as long as:
- A/C meets its approved design type
- In condition of safe operation
- Maintenance/preventative maintenance is performed
Where must airworthiness certificate be located?
Displayed in cabin or cockpit entrance & visible to passengers and crew
What is a a/c registration?
Proof of registration with FAA Aircraft Registry and must be carried in a/c at all times
Do a/c registrations expire?
Yes 7 years after the last day of the month it was issued
Is there a temporary a/c registration?

Yes but only valid for no more than 90 days
What are the reasons a registration can be invalidated?

- a/c registered in foreign country
- applicant isn’t the owner
- applicant is not qualified to submit the application
What are the required tests & inspections for a/c airworthiness?
(AAV1ATE)
- Annual inspection: Every 12 calendar months
- Airworthiness directives
- VOR equipment: 30 days (IFR only)
- 100 hour inspection (For hire or flight instruction)
- Altimeter, static pressure systems: 24 calendar months (IFR)
- Transponder: 24 calendar months
- ELT: 12 calendar months, replace 1 hour culminative use or more than 50% battery exp.
Can we fly with an expired VOR check?
Yes for VFR
